OUR HEART

  • “So, then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.” — Ephesians 2v19-20 (CSB)

Kindred exists to help people find a home in God’s family. In a world of low commitment, a loneliness epidemic, and broken families, the promise of the Gospel shines bright: through Jesus, God is making a new family.

As a church plant, we aim to help people who are spiritually homeless find a new home in God’s family.

  • “Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” — Matthew 22v36-40 (CSB)

As a church plant, we are setting out to turn strangers into neighbors, neighbors into friends, and friends into the family of God. We believe the best way to welcome all into the family of God is through authentic relationships with the people who live with us, across the street from us, and in our cities. It is through these relationships we can live out the love of God and see lives changed.

OUR RHYTHM

  • Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, since he who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.” — Hebrews 10v23-25

As a church plant launch team, we gather every Sunday to hold onto the confession of our hope which is found in Jesus Christ and to spur one another toward love and good works.

Join us on Sundays at 11am at 2852 S Commerce Rd and see what God is doing as we ask Him to grow this church plant!

  • Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” — Acts 2v46-47

We believe hospitality is one of the greatest gifts we can give to those around us. As a church plant, we view the table as a sacred invitation to a place where meals are not simply shared, but all of who we are and what we have experienced in life are shared as well.

We gather as a small group community every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm, rotating between a few locations each week. Reach out to us at admin@kindredchurchmi.com to get our location schedule for the month.

The Genesis of Kindred

Kindred Church is a church plant led by Pastor Young and a group of friends who sought to start a church for the next-generation of Christians, specifically in the Asian-American community of Metro-Detroit. As a result, this group began gathering during the early months of 2024 and began their journey to create a community of Christ followers, centered around the Bible and emotionally healthy spirituality.

At Kindred, we teach exclusively from the Bible, focus on spiritual formation, and strive to live in deep, impactful, and loving community. We are currently in a stage of church planting where we are looking to add members, volunteers, and leaders. If you are interested, fill out the connect form below and we would love to hear your story!
